JJAMM Week at Mount Saint Joseph's Altona Victoria.
So what are we doing . . . the SRC is busily preparing for the big week. Each Yr Level is assigned a JJAMM Day. We have JJAMM Donut Eating Contest. PJJAMMA day where students have made PJ's in their classes which will be donated to St Vinnies. We have sign up for the 40 Famine, Face up to Poverty Banner Signing and Furniture Free Friday where the students have to stand / sit and do without furniture to remind them how lucky they are. ( they think this is novel until about 20 mins into the first lesson and then they get the message !
On Founders Day the Yr 12's share breakfast with the staff as it is their last Founders Day. The Yr 11's go to the Junior Classes in the morning with different activities based on Mary MacKillop and run the classes. Yr 12's prepare their own Josephite Cross for their Graduation Mass in October reflecting on their time here in the Josephite Community. We have a whole school liturgy, where the Yr 7's are commissioned into the Josephite Community and the students then leave at lunchtime.
After the students have gone, the staff share a lunch together and a trivia afternoon where the Mount St raffle is drawn. Each year a staff member can win a weekend to Sydney for two staying at Mount St.
And then after all this . . . . . . . we rest ! Regina Byrne.
